Living History DemonstratorsSaturday, March 20th Wakulla Springs State Park

Step back into the not so distant past to engage the hard working folks of the Big Bend as they labor to live off this bountiful land. Witness the art of Native American needle basket creation. Stand before the spinner’s wheel as cotton, wool, and silk are spun into the yarn used for weaving. Watch the sparks fly as a smithy hammers iron to his whim in the blacksmith’s forge.

Using tools and techniques familiar to ancient peoples, a flintknapper manufactures and displays arrowheads, knife blades, and spear points. A moonshiner from the late 1800’s plies his craft while “U.S. Soldiers” from the 1830’s and 40’s take you back to the drama of the Seminole Wars.
