Meet the Performers
Coon Bottom Creek
"Coon Bottom Creek" is a local bluegrass band with six musicians from Wakulla and Leon County. Crystallizing around the Austrian couple Maria and Mischa Steurer, on the upright base and mandolin, respectively, the band also features Red Barnes and Daryl Langston on guitars, Chelsea Kessler on the fiddle, and since January 2010 Skip Johns on the 5-string banjo. Unique to Coon Bottom Creek’s talents is that all six members can sing. This provides a variety of lead and harmony vocals which is not typical for most bluegrass bands. With six folks in the band now the occasionally on-stage performance becomes an interesting logistical challenge. However, the great feedback we receive form the audience every time we play somewhere is just too much of a treat. While most songs and instrumentals we play are not originals, we recently introduced compositions by Billy Samford who used to perform with us until the end of 2009. Listen closely and you might catch one or the other at the next occasion. We hope you'll meet our band soon and can enjoy our music with us.

Scrub Oak
Scrub Oak has been playing traditional music for five years. Mike Snowdon, the newest band member, plays stand up bass and Brian Murray plays Fiddle. Virginia Miller plays guitar and sings, along with her husband Ken Miller who plays mandolin. Ken is a luthier and builds guitars and other stringed instruments.
Pickn' & Grinnin'
With their roots in deep Georgia, Pickn' & Grinnin' group members perform blue-grass music. Jerry Marrow, lead guitar and vocalist, has played with numerous country bands over the years and throughout the Southeast. C. B. Fincher will entertain you with his harps and his joyful enthusiasm for music. Bobby Adams, on the dobro, has been a welcome edition, and Jessica Boyd, previously the bass fiddle player has recently embellished the group by taking up banjo and singing harmony. Jan Lee who plays mandolin and guitar is the lead vocalist. Playing bass, Wayne Dawson joins the band as their most recent member.
Jonny Lipford
They say that music is what feelings sound like, and for 19-year-old Jonny Lipford, this is true. Every song, every note he plays, is played with passion from his heart and soul. He is considered by many to be a true Native American flute virtuoso, able to play just about any style of music. He is on a mission to share with people what this instrument is all about, to show just how versatile it really can be. Jonny is known for playing some things just a little "outside the box" of the traditional Native American Style music but none the less, it's music from within. He is truly an Old Soul.
